When God Changes the Plans
“By wisdom a house is built.” — Proverbs 24:3 NIV
Telling my parents that we had decided to move was incredibly difficult. They were hurt, sad, and probably a little angry, even though we were moving only 15 miles away. We knew why the move made sense for our family, but knowing our reason did not remove the guilt or sadness. Sometimes following the direction God has placed before us disappoints people we deeply love.
The night before closing, I thought about our unknown future. I felt uncertain, frightened, and excited all at once. Yet beneath those emotions was the quiet belief that God would go with us. Following God does not mean every decision feels immediately peaceful. Sometimes obedience includes having uncomfortable conversations, grieving what we are leaving behind, and moving forward without knowing exactly what awaits on the other side. Now I look back and know that God's plan was much bigger than mine. It did not take my parents long to love our new home and enjoy the festivities we included them in for holidays, birthdays, or even fun dinners. Once again, God showed me that my home is with Him, and if I allow Him to draw the blueprints and trust Him in His design, then no matter the size of the staircase or the number of rooms, I will be safe. We may not understand every detail, but God does.

Are you resisting a necessary change because you are afraid of disappointing someone?
Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, give me wisdom to know when You are leading me toward change. Help me move with compassion, courage, and trust in Your blueprints for me. Amen.
