The Bridge of the Cross: Day 5 of 5

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” — John 14:6 NIV
The cross is more than a reminder of Jesus’ suffering.
It is a bridge from sin to forgiveness.
From separation to relationship.
From despair to hope.
From death to eternal life.
Sin created a distance we could never cross through our own goodness, strength, or effort. We could not build our own way back to God, so Jesus became the way.
Through His death and resurrection, Jesus bore the penalty for our sin and made a way for us to return to our Heavenly Father. He did not simply tell us which direction to travel. He gave Himself to create the way.
On that quiet Good Friday years ago, I walked into the church feeling alone. But through the silence, the darkness, and the sound of that heavy wooden cross, I remembered that Jesus had already built the bridge I needed.
He was the way back to God.
He was the way through my suffering.
And He was sitting with me in that pew.
We may find ourselves standing before many bridges during our lives. We may cross from grief toward healing, from fear toward trust, from confusion toward understanding, or from one season into another. We may not be able to see everything waiting on the other side. But we can trust the One who built the bridge.
Jesus does not ask us to cross by ourselves. He walks with us, strengthens us, and reminds us that pain will never have the final word.
The cross appeared to be the end of the story, but God was still working. Friday’s darkness became Sunday’s hope. Whatever Friday you may be facing today, remember that Jesus has already made a way forward.
Questions to Ponder
Where do you need Jesus to become your bridge from pain to hope?
Are you attempting to reach God through your own strength?
What next step is Jesus asking you to take with Him?
Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus to become the way that leads me back to You. Thank You for the cross and for the forgiveness, relationship, hope, and eternal life it made possible.
When I cannot see what is waiting on the other side, help me trust the bridge You have provided. Remind me that Jesus is with me in every step, every uncertainty, and every season of suffering.
Help me follow Him and point others toward the way.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
