Saying Goodbye to the Walls

“Through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.” — Proverbs 24:4 NIV

Recently, I walked through the house that had been part of my life for more than 45 years. Its land and walls will now belong to another family. I placed my hand against the walls and thanked God for the memories held within them. I thanked Him for the joy, the lessons, and even the difficult experiences that shaped me. I also asked for His continued protection over the family that will call it home next.

Walking through those rooms was emotional. Letting go often is.

But releasing a house does not erase the life that happened inside it. Its most precious treasures travel with us—in our memories, our relationships, and the ways God used those years to shape our hearts.

Sometimes we must release the walls while trusting God to preserve what truly mattered within them.

Question to Ponder

What are you grieving or struggling to release in this season?

Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, thank You for the places and people that have shaped my life. Help me honor the past without remaining trapped within it. Teach me to release what is changing and trust You with what comes next. Amen.

Share Your Joy Today.

About Me

IMG_3129_edited.png

Hi, I’m Wendy—a wife, mother, writer, and strong believer in Jesus. I began writing devotionals for my three sons as a way to share God’s Word and encourage them in their faith. Writing is a vulnerable craft, and I share my thoughts knowing that I do not have all the answers—nor do I pretend to know everything about the Bible. I am simply sharing what God places on my heart. My hope is that these words bring you joy, encourage you in your own journey, and plant a seed in your heart that reminds you just how deeply your Father in Heaven loves you.
