Live a Quiet Life
“Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you.” — 1 Thessalonians 4:11 (NIV)

How can we possibly mind our own business when social media gives us a front-row seat to everyone else's? We scroll. We compare. We wonder why someone wasn't invited, why someone stopped calling, why someone seems to have everything figured out while we're still trying to make sense of our own lives.
The gateway to comparison is always open.
But perhaps the answer is simpler than we make it.
Stop scrolling. Stop comparing. Build a relationship with Jesus. Do what you enjoy. And be kind to others, even when their brokenness, anger, or unkindness is directed toward you.
Sounds simple, doesn't it?
Well, I can tell you that it isn't always easy.
I've discovered that living a quiet life means being intentional about who I allow into the most personal parts of my world. It means sharing my deepest thoughts and feelings with those who love me unconditionally: my husband, my family, and God. And sometimes, it's just God.
I think it's important to give ourselves the opportunity for reflection, quietness, and stillness.
Maybe for you, that's writing, playing the guitar, throwing a ball, playing golf, reading, walking, or mopping. I don't know what quiet looks like for you, but I do know that we all need to find it.
Because somewhere in the quiet, we begin to hear Him.
A Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me quiet the noise around me and within me. Teach me to release the things I cannot control, forgive those who have hurt me, and stop comparing my life to the lives of others. When I want to defend myself or those I love, give me wisdom to know when to speak and when to be still. Help me lead by example, showing kindness, grace, and compassion even when it is difficult. May my life reflect Your love, and may my heart be quiet enough to hear Your voice.
In Jesus Name, Amen.
