Jesus Over Fear
The Bridge of the Cross: Day 4 of 5
“By his wounds you have been healed.” — 1 Peter 2:24 NIV

When I experience pain or weariness, I must remind myself to stop and pray. I can open Scripture and remember Jesus’ suffering, His teachings, and His promises. I can bring Him my anxiety, fear, confusion, and sadness instead of trying to carry them by myself.
One word that often returns to me during those difficult moments is JOY—Jesus Over You.
Placing Jesus over my fear does not mean the fear instantly disappears.
Placing Jesus over my pain does not mean the pain never existed.
Placing Jesus over my anxiety does not mean I will never feel overwhelmed again.
It means I choose to let His presence, love, and truth become greater than whatever is trying to consume me.
First Peter 2:24 reminds me that Jesus bore our sins on the cross so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness. Through His wounds, we have been healed.
That healing does not always arrive in the way or at the time we expect. Sometimes Jesus changes our circumstances. Sometimes He gives us strength to endure them. Sometimes He changes our hearts while we are still waiting for the situation to change.
In every case, He remains with us.
JOY is not pretending that everything is fine. It is not hiding my pain behind a smile or denying the reality of a difficult season. JOY is intentionally placing Jesus above everything that tries to separate me from His peace.
Fear may still speak, but His truth can speak louder.
Pain may remain, but His presence can hold us within it.
The outcome may still be unknown, but the One walking with us is already known.
Questions to Ponder
What fear is speaking loudly in your life?
Are you willing to bring your honest emotions to Jesus?
What would placing Jesus over your fear look like today?
Prayer for Today
Jesus, place Your truth over my fear, Your peace over my anxiety, and Your presence over my pain. Help me trust that even when my circumstances do not immediately change, You are still healing, strengthening, and guiding me. May Your voice become louder than everything trying to overwhelm me. Amen.
