Be Still. He Is Listening.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” — Philippians 4:6 NIV
It can be difficult sitting quietly with God when your mind is already running through tomorrow's responsibilities, today's worries, and all the things you feel you need to fix. Trust me, I know! But, I have a question for you:
When you think about being still, is your struggle more about quieting your anxious thoughts, or about surrendering control or trusting God with what comes next?
As you think about this question, I invite you to meditate on Philippians 4:6 NIV
Sometimes, I think I confuse being still with doing nothing.
But perhaps being still is actually doing something far more important. It is making room for God.
Philippians 4:6 reminds me that I am not meant to carry my anxiety alone. God invites me to bring everything to Him. Not just the big things. Not just the emergencies. Everything.
So today, think about your struggle with stillness by meditating on your own thoughts about presenting your requests to God. And remember to pray, give thanks, surrender and yield. It's within the yielding that stillness takes place.
